I really like this company. Been using them for 3 years now, and never had an issue. They provide a bunch of services so you dont have to go elsewhere to get them. I can update my records pretty quickly and the user interface took me no time to learn how to use. The only annoying thing is that I have to pay for their phone support.

I really love DNS Made Easy. I have used them for over 7 years and I have never had one second of downtime. They are one of the only providers I know that has 100% DNS uptime history.
I wish there web interface was a little more updated, that is the only marks that I can take off for them.
You do have to pay for their phone support if you are in their plans of $5 per month or less (which makes perfect sense). Not sure how you would expect anyone qualified to talk to you for $5 per month.

We used DNS Made Easy at a previous employer and I was pleased with the service enough to try it for my personal sites. I’ve been using it for over a year now and couldn’t be happier.

Their control panel may not be the sexiest, but the service sure kicks ass. There’s never been any downtime and response times are great (I monitor it with Pingdom).

The service is great, so I’ve never needed any phone support. At $14.95 a year I wouldn’t expect any either.

Great service at a great price, you can’t beat them.

    1) Their website is very ugly, hard to manage.
    2) Their network is good since they offer AnyCast.
    3) Their support sucks.

If you don’t need support ever, go for it… Otherwise, stay away.

I have been using DNS Made Easy for a few years now and I couldn’t be happier. I have used a few of their competitors and moved away from them due to overblown pricing, performance issues, and outages. DNS Made Easy says that they have never been down, and I believe them because my DNS has never been down and I haven’t even seen a single hiccup.

I wouldn’t call their interface ugly. I would call it functional. Anyone who finds their control panel hard to use probably doesn’t know much about DNS.

When I make a change to any record in any of my domains that change is instantly propagated to all of their servers.

DNS Made Easy has servers anycast all over the world, so my customers in the US and EU all see excellent performance.

The price of their service is much lower than I could reach running my own servers and they are dead bang reliable. I can’t ask for anything more from a DNS provider.

“On August 07, 2010 DNS Made Easy was the target of a large multi Gb/s attack against all of our name servers. The attack started at 8:00 UTC and was fully mitigated by 14:00 UTC. During this time period there were regional outages from some or all of our name servers. Regional outages means that certain regions of the world were not able to resolve your DNS and other regions of the world were resolving normally. When all name servers were not reachable a DNS query would have been lost, when some name servers were not reachable then DNS performance would have been slower than normal but still operational.
The regional downtime was in very small periods but it still did affect the overall resolution for all of our client’s DNS.”

I was affected and this tells me DNS Made Easy does not have the bandwidth capacity and capabilities that I thought they did. Looking elsewhere as I can not afford a second a down time.

Tony and Tyler appear to be singing the same tune! Yet certainly not my experience nor that of many who’ve posted here in review.

Certainly understand where Dave is coming from, yet I don’t know of too many organizations anywhere that can absorb 50Gb/s assault. Left out of his post were some key parts to this problem:
“4) How large of an attack was this?
This attack hit levels that were so high that our Tier1 upstreams were suffering latency and network issues for other clients at many of their locations due to this attack. This caused some of our Tier1 bandwidth providers to use their last resort response of null routing traffic to some of our IPs from some networks to prevent major service degradation to their core networks.
Measuring the exact size of this attack is rather difficult. However, discussions with our Tier1 bandwidth providers during the attack led to an estimate of 50 Gb/s in size. This was based on reports of multiple 10Gb/s lines being saturated at multiple different providers in different geographic regions.
During our after-action discussions internally and with our providers after the attack was mitigated we analyzed all information available to us through monitoring systems and traffic reports and we revised our estimate of the attack size to be fluctuating between 20Gb/s and 40Gb/s during the attack. We will never know the true size of this attack as we actively moved traffic around to different locations throughout the attack and IPs were temporarily null routed into and through various networks, and some traffic was blocked from provider to provider in response to the attack.
We do know that due to the service implication to the Tier1 providers, networking teams from China Netcom, China Telecom, Level3, GlobalCrossing, Tiscali, and Arbinet were involved to stop the attacks. Level3 and Arbinet both played special heroic roles in facilitating that the correct people were involved from all networks to make sure that the attack was stopped as quickly as possible.

    5) How was this attack stopped?
Fighting attacks of this magnitude is very complex and a full answer involves much information that we do not want these criminals to know. What we can say is that that we used a combination of routing techniques, DDoS mitigation tools, customized firewalls, and high level inter-provider negotiations.
China Netcom and China Telecom had to null route the name servers from their networks in order for the attack to not impact other traffic they had going to the United States. ”

If Tier1 providers were suffering from this attack, it’s no wonder that DME suffered. And recovered in relatively short order. Also, I commend their staff on not only how they dealt with the technical response but how they’ve dealt with the public response: head on and straight up. Kudo’s to DME!

I (think) I wish I found this site before signing up and paying my money to DNSME. Up until now they have been pretty helpful. But now that I got stuff set up I’m not sure what I have and am not getting any or very slow email support. (They did mention they would be happy to charge me for phone support.) All I wanted to do is have a fail over service so that if my main site when down then it would fail over to a back up site. They explained to me that this was easy. So I bought a back up domain moved both sites named servers to DNSME and bought the fail over feature. I set it up as described in the videos including a heart beat script and thought I was set. I crippled the heart beat script and sure enough I got the email messages telling me my site was down. However when I hit domain1.com it did not take me to domain2.com. (And oddly after hours of waiting for TTL time out, domain1.com still was responsive.) When I contacted DNSME they told me fail over doesn’t work that way but only changes the “A” record IP address to the new server. So I didn’t need a second domain. “Even better” I said and “who do you do that?” What I got back was “The destination backup server would likely need a virtual host configuration…” “likely need a virtual host”? What kind of answer is that? Seems like what I’m trying to do is pretty straight forward and common and of value to others so why don’t they describe how do set that up? If someone knows how to step me through this (if its possible) and would be willing to share I’d really appreciate it. info@casadebellagio.com

I was considering using their services, but after I saw what they stated in their Terms of Service. I have decided I will never use their services. They will put all the costs to you if your domain is attacked, this is crazy, what if you just get picked randomly. This is Wow

DNS Made Easy follows industry standards for dealing with DoS and DDoS attacks against a client’s domain(s). If DNS Made Easy is under a DDoS attack due to a client’s domain(s) then all associated costs with fighting the attack will be passed on to the client. The client is expected to reimburse DNS Made Easy within 24 hours for any and all additional costs of bandwidth and emergency expenditures to DNS Made Easy in the course of mitigating a Denial-of-Service or Distributed Denial-of-Service attacks against a client’s domain(s). This includes, but is not limited to, support time, bandwidth, special consulting, and loss of business associated to the client’s attack.

    Such a great service.
If you ever have had DNS needs above what the basic Domain registrar provides, then this company is great. I have been using them for over a year – Business account plus 25 extra dd on domains). Have almost 50 domains with them and am paying around $100/year for the best DNS services out there.
Such an easy system to use with great tutorials. They always answer questions within just a few hours. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about them. I was worried about reaching my 10 million monthly queries (with email spam and such), but we barely reach 1 million/month.
I use to pay $100/month for fail-over notifications and now I get it as part of my plan for free.

I was unable to login to this account because of something that has yet to be revealed to me however I was sent numerous passwords to login regardless nine of them work until I dealt with support for a few days. Subsequently I could not access my account therefore I had customers that requested to be on your servers after I had said positive things about you to them.

I need you to migrate the domains from the trial accounts and I can give you the username passwords whatever it is because you don’t offer the migration service in the trial if you guys feel like not doing it any longer okay just let me know and it will be over on DynECT AND UltraDNS right away.
I hate to bring up competitors however it really feels bad when I have asked this four times please get this done respectfully,

Creating multiple accounts to get around quotas or get additional free time is strictly against our TOS.

And just to confirm. You did NOT submit 4 tickets about this (at least not with the same email address you are using here).
Also yes. If you require multiple accounts to get around quota limitations and you have difficulty in remembering your usernames and password and you require a system that does not force this level of security… then yes you can free to move to UltraDNS or Dynect. They may provide you system where you do not need to log in with the correct credentials to make changes.
Your public shaming of our support is not only unprofessional but uncalled for. You do NOT have a ticket from 15 hours ago. This ticket was created less than 1 hour ago.

Jennifer thanks for your prompt response.

I did not create different accounts to get around your tos the agreement or to get around any other rules that you have.
Your company made it so that whenever I tried to reset my password with my email address it would send a temporary password I would then reset the password then I would not be able to login

That is fact it’s not made up or anything else it’s the reason that those domains are not on account with all of one domain.

Public shaming of your support system I did not realize that a support ticket was considered public however I’m not lying about what I said and I am a customer of yours I would appreciate some respect myself. I am the one that constantly has to deal with issues that would’ve never ever happened if you guys had correctly configured the account as I did have to have one of your customer service people over the course of more than a week it back to me and then unlock the account so you can maybe try looking some more.

as I can tell you’re not very concerned about how I serving the customer or how the customer feels remember I am the customer about this and I did not publicly shame you what I stated was the truth if you do not have the ability to be consistent then I will take my business elsewhere I post one domain with you guys it is really unprofessional of you to speak to a customer in that manner. I AM not anything other than you’re paying customer, and you are a service. A service which promises a lot please do not ever schooled me like that again.

Now that I have addressed your issues that I have been kind enough to bring up to speed on this. If it requires that I show you that I have submitted that many tickets I will do that but it sounds like you can find it using this email address
    tom@domain.com

I do not control your helpdesk nor am I the one responsible for this issue. As I stated in the tickets before I had to create a trial account because I thought like any other normal DNS company I’ve worked with and I work with quite a few that you would simply migrate the domains over to the proper account because at the time your system was still not letting me in. Why would I start a one trial with the company I am already doing business with and am far under query limit or are you suggesting I enjoy creating trial accounts for fun? you should know better than anyone I have an account with plenty of space on it far more queries that could be used in a weeks time in a trial waiting for you guys to respond?

    Please move example.com
And example.com to this account if you would do that I would be very happy. Please do not reply with how inappropriate I am to tell you exactly how I feel this is customer feedback okay you have been calling me unprofessional told me I was untruthful with you which I was not. I told you what I would have to do if you did not move the domains as any other company in the world would do. I’m asking for support and you call me unprofessional and you say that it’s public ma’am please do not go down this road with me and help me instead.
This has to be done right away because I could not access my prior account I do not have much time in the day or in the night to deal with this. However after you submit a request for a lost password and it still fails 10+ times at least that is not human error that is an issue that affected my ability to manage domains and led to this.

I’ve given you the two domains I would very much like taking over the temporary account is example 2
I can get the username and password for example.com
If need be. The only thing that I stated to you was the truth, and yes I do plan on telling people the truth of what has occurred to me when I deal with services therefore they trust me I did you guys a favor by putting the domain on your platform because I could not can into my own account would you prefer I told them the incompetence that I suffered telling them well I can’t even log into my own account because the system is somehow broken I did right by you now it’s time for you please do right by me. And please remember that I’m a customer
    sincerely,
    Thomas

this ticket was closed on December 10 these people that call themselves customer service at DNS made easy are the worst customer service people in the world. They are so horrible and have no regard for customer service or the feelings of another person. I was far too polite with them in my opinion. this woman decided accuse me of being a liar, not provide any of the support I asked for at all, accuse me of publicly shaming DNS made easy inside of a support ticket, but don’t worry I’m doing it now. I truly do not understand companies like this that are awful. This was settled after I called sales said “I need to speak someone in management immediately” when they asked what over “I simply stated an extremely important issue”
after I was able to show management what this woman did they to their credit did move one domain over to my account which is their top-level account.

The way that they treat people is ridiculous 7 days in order to fix all login problem and because I was stupid enough to actually think that they would rather keep the business of more domains then stick to their BS TOS that they hid behind time and time again.

When I asked them if it was physically possible the answer was yes, when I asked them if it would take a lot of work we answer was no, when I asked them why they can’t do it they said it’s against our terms of service.

Well as a customer of any company it’s against my terms of service to be called a liar and worst by people who do not bother to educate themselves on my account to see if I would actually create a trial account to get around paying for queries before not just accusing but stating that I was doing that.

I will never ever use this company again if you want top quality inexpensive DNS go to one of the 2 companies I said I would go to above or check out edge cast DNS because DNS made easy makes me sick.

At the advice of one of our team members we tried DNS Made Easy and were less than impressed. If you want to use an ENTERPRISE solution I would suggest you go with another provider. In the event you need customer service or a live person, good luck! They are cheap and so we tried them…it was a failed experiment but nothing lost because now we know.

We moved away from nettica since they were bought by dyn.com which wasnt really a good impression. So after looking around and testing a few other providers we moved everything to dnsmadeeasy. Very good interface, finally also an iphone app and very fast dnsservers. From our point of usage in europe they have really good response time. Also the bulkpricing is very comparable to the nettica bulk, still a bit more expensive but ok for this quality. So far i can highly recommend them.

Way overpriced. Do not use them, Amazon’s Route 53 is far more flexible, costs less and doesn’t require you to pre pay a non refundable amount that costs over a 1000 dollars a year. Just avoid them at all costs no IT company that says all sales are final should be trusted.

They operate on a pre pay system forcing you to select a payment tie and pay in full. They then charge that prepay amount based on the services you use within the tier. If you wish to close the account or stop using services they keep the remainder of the funds they charged you for but you didn’t use.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOTICE ANY ‘SIMILARITIES” BETWEEN THE POSTS LABELED “On April 27, 2010 Christopher” AND “On April 18, 2010 Amy”????????????

WHY ON EARTH WOULD ANYBODY BE SO DUMB AS TO SIGN UP WITH A HOST THAT OBVIOUSLY HAS HIRED SHILLS TO WRITE FAKE REVIEWS? BEST ADVICE IS TO IGNORE ALL THE “POSITIVE” COMMENTS–UNLESS, OF COURSE, YOU’RE STUPID ENOUGH TO BELIEVE THAT DNS MADE EASY WOULDN’T EVEN THINK ABOUT SCAMMING YOU. SLEAZEBALLS PAR EXCELLENCE . . .

Incompetent supporter, they do not know DNS and DNS zone 100%.
If you report bugs they will just answer bullshit answer. Don’t handover your DNS to DnsMadeeasy, it can cost you a lot of money when the staff dosen’t know to handle DNS probaly. 4

    Hello,

If you go within the domain, in the settings tab, you can delete all of the records inside the domain.

Thank you for choosing DNS Made Easy!
