I used DNSimple for a controlled migration of Registrar, and they proved to be a great choice for a short term host. The fee structure quoted here isn’t accurate anymore. It’s gone up a bit, but it also has a flat rate charge. Clients love not having to guess at what the bill will be like.

Got the first major downtime just 3 days after migrating my domain on dnsimple:
dns resolution went down for the whole afternoon,
most of my 70 clients couldn’t reach my service
(and 1K employers behind them)
.. a nice welcome present 🙂
Then another major downtime after one month,
same problem:
complete interruption of service for the whole afternoon.
Their nameservers went completely down for hours.
Check their history statuspage history:

here (2 march 2021): https://dnsimple.statuspage.io/incidents/bcnzxs0mgz21
and here (19 april 2021): https://dnsimple.statuspage.io/incidents/vxt3ll14vzmq
I lost quite some money and reputation because of that.
Also their support is slow: 24 hours for basic answers
(and forget about getting support during week-ends)
Also .. it’s expensive.
I’ve never wished for the 2 months RIPE cooldown to pass faster
so I could run away from this service.
