Dynect is pretty good. I have a few small to medium size websites and I have full control over them when I need to make changes. The price is somewhat on the high end but I am getting a decent amount of traffic as well as failover and load balancing. I was initially considering purchasing hardware F5 boxes, but then realized I can get these services with DNS. I’m very happy thus far and don’t plan on changing my setup any time soon.

These are, without a doubt, the best service-minded people I have done business with. We have been a client of Dynect for more than a year now. Every time we have a question or an issue, we get a prompt, knowledgeable, and helpful response. The web interface is easy to use. The system works pretty well. If you do business with them, you will have peace of mind.

We use Dynect at the core of our CloudScale product and also for a number of customers with high performance websites. They have been quick and responsive with their support. We’ve had zero downtime since we started using the service 18 months ago and the performance has also been stellar. Most importantly, for CloudScale, their API was robust and changes make it to all of nameservers within a couple seconds of making the API call usually.
Overall it’s been a very pleasant experience and well worth the premium price.

Absolutely the best DNS service on the market today. We use their dynect and dyndns platforms and we generate a large amount of traffic and manage approx 40 servers. Their load balancing works incredibly well and support gets answered in a flash!

Dynect was the eventual winner of the shoot-out. I’ve been very happy with the service since.
Note to editor of site: I suggest having a star rating for Cost. Some of these services cost a lot more than others. Dynect is fairly competitive, but there are cheaper services.

We have been using Dynect for over a year and can attest to their 100% uptime guarantee. We have not had a single issue in all that time, but even better, when we have questions it is very easy to get someone from support on the phone to assist. They just helped us move one of our customers who was struggling with network solutions DNS issues for days. A quick phone call to verify the settings and the problem was solved as soon as the DNS transferred. And I would be remiss if I did not mention that their DNS portal is the best and easiest to use that I have ever come across (and I’ve used several).

We’re at about a year of depending on Dyn’s DNS services. After using the lower-end paid DynDNS service for a few months (and hitting about 10x their advertised capacity for that service without a hiccup), we migrated to the Dynect platform and have not regretted it for a moment.
The cost is highly competitive (we get far more than we pay for), the service is rock-solid (the only issue we had was caused by a typo we caused in an imported zone file, and they had a code fix to avert the problem within hours), and the sales team is very un-pushy. The management interface was a bit unwieldy at first, but they’re improving it.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to others.

We recently did a full vendor eval, including full performance testing, and decided to go with Dynect. We do a couple billion hits per day, and needed a strong SLA and good working relationship with a vendor. The price considering features, reliability, and ease of use is very competitive (no one else touched them). Their ability to help us globally load balance our traffic (in addition to more traditional DNS) was highly attractive. It was very easy to setup and offered us some very attractive speed enhancements. (resubmitting since I forgot the stars)

They did appear to have good services… But it is very strange that this provider (that only started less than a year ago) has so many reviews…. I think this is being spammed.

We moved to Dynect earlier this quarter and couldn’t have been happier. All our late night and early morning alerts from our previous provider’s DNS solution going offline have disappeared. Moving over to the solution took literally a few hours (not days, not weeks) for 75+ zones/domains. Their expert editor makes old hacks like me feel comfortable with the ease of a GUI and the flexibility of command line interface. Our site load times have improved, because DNS is always the first part of the lookup…

I didn’t score them on Security as that’s not my forte. As for manageability, I thought the backend was good, but could have better documentation for people who aren’t as versed in this area.
In the interest of disclosure, I can say the company asked me if I would like to do a review. It’s a question more businesses are asking and I don’t see anything wrong with that so long as I’m not getting paid for my comments.

Our experience of moving our premium clients over from our own managed DNS service has been easy and painless allowing us to focus more resource on our core business activities and less on our infrastructure.
The key benefits we have experienced include:
* lower total cost of ownership
* improved lookup performance, especially for users outside of our key regions
* easy and quick DNS updates where required with extremely low propagation times
* far greater visibility of DNS throughput
If you are running a serious site and having less headaches, improved load-times and trust in your providers are considerations for you, I’d urge you to talk with Dynect today.

What really stands out is their intuitive interface. It makes all the complexity of DNS accessible and easy to manage. Their interface is extremely fast, both in responsiveness of their interface and time it takes to publish changes. I’ve seen new zones appear in seconds after publishing.
All of the flexibility and speed offered make Dynect an excellent choice for Disaster Recovery solutions. The choices offered by their Control Panel for TTLs coupled with accessibility to non-technical people make dealing with crisis situations simple. No matter what is going wrong, or who has Internet access at that moment, we always know we have the ability to fail over.
I strongly recommend Dynect to anyone looking to manage DNS for their business.

Their price is pretty high and is no way that cheap. You have to be paying someone fulltime to do DNS to get any ROI on this service. So I do not agree on what a few users have stated (looks like their sales staff is on this site).
We personally like the support they give and so far have not had any downtime. They have not been around that long so they really do not have that many domains. I honestly have to question the number of reviews that they are getting here myself. Everyone of their clients must be asked to write a review here.
But yes, they offer a decent service so far and we are pleased.

And the performance has been great. The transition was painless as they have many tools for getting your domains imported. If I had to say anything negative, it would be that their web interface is a little inefficient when managing over 75 domains. But it’s not a huge issue.

Technically very good. From a customer service perspective – an absolute nightmare. I had a problem with a renewal payment for one of my domains through Paypal. My sites were offline for days while I tried to sort out the mess. The customer service people were very unhelpful and I’ll be moving all my domains away in the coming weeks.
