Dynect is an excellent service.

What really stands out is their intuitive interface. It makes all the complexity of DNS accessible and easy to manage. Their interface is extremely fast, both in responsiveness of their interface and time it takes to publish changes. I've seen new zones appear in seconds after publishing.

All of the flexibility and speed offered make Dynect an excellent choice for Disaster Recovery solutions. The choices offered by their Control Panel for TTLs coupled with accessibility to non-technical people make dealing with crisis situations simple. No matter what is going wrong, or who has Internet access at that moment, we always know we have the ability to fail over.

I strongly recommend Dynect to anyone looking to manage DNS for their business.

I was testing Dynect for a client site who presently uses UltraDNS. I was very impressed with the response times Pingdom showed for Dynect on a test server.

I was also impressed with the company's willingness to pull in technical people to answer some of my questions. They were quite patient with me and nicely pointed out some of my setup mistakes.

I didn't score them on Security as that's not my forte. As for manageability, I thought the backend was good, but could have better documentation for people who aren't as versed in this area.

In the interest of disclosure, I can say the company asked me if I would like to do a review. It's a question more businesses are asking and I don't see anything wrong with that so long as I'm not getting paid for my comments.

Was doing some research on my options for DNS and noticed some hype on Twitter about Dynect. Ironically, my buddy also sent me this article on a Dynect outage somewhat recently...

I thought this was important to share with those reading, especially if you're in the market for DNS.

Recently moved to Dynect and regret the fact that I didn't consider how much support I would need. They absolutely rip you off if you need off hour support. jesus! You can't run a company like this, who provides such a critical piece of your business, and you have to pay out the ying yang for support beyond 9-5. Its 2010 people.

We've evaluated a variety of DNS platforms over the past 12 months for performance, price-point and reliability, Dynect has excelled on each of these points and we committed to a long-term partnership in May.

Our experience of moving our premium clients over from our own managed DNS service has been easy and painless allowing us to focus more resource on our core business activities and less on our infrastructure.

The key benefits we have experienced include:

* lower total cost of ownership
* improved lookup performance, especially for users outside of our key regions
* easy and quick DNS updates where required with extremely low propagation times
* far greater visibility of DNS throughput

If you are running a serious site and having less headaches, improved load-times and trust in your providers are considerations for you, I'd urge you to talk with Dynect today.

We recently moved our corporate external DNS to Dynect and couldn’t be more pleased. We’re getting about 16 Million hits a month and will be saving $16,000 per year by moving to Dynect from another provider. Their customer service is quick and knowledgeable. And the performance has been great. The transition was painless as they have many tools for getting your domains imported. If I had to say anything negative, it would be that their web interface is a little inefficient when managing over 75 domains. But it’s not a huge issue.

Since we made the switch to DynDNS, everything has been painless and fantastic. We were looking for a DNS provider w/failover and were up and running quickly. They have fast and reliable service, lighting-quick propagation time and whenever we have questions, there is always someone there to answer the call.

Their price is pretty high and is no way that cheap. You have to be paying someone fulltime to do DNS to get any ROI on this service. So I do not agree on what a few users have stated (looks like their sales staff is on this site).
We personally like the support they give and so far have not had any downtime. They have not been around that long so they really do not have that many domains. I honestly have to question the number of reviews that they are getting here myself. Everyone of their clients must be asked to write a review here.
But yes, they offer a decent service so far and we are pleased.
