Cloudflare’s network goes down
March 4, 2013 – According to a variety of sources, Cloudflare had an outage which took down over 700,000
websites. Apparently, some sort of change was made to their network, which took out their edge routers.
These routers were effected in a way that required their team to manually contact all of their datacenters
to revert the change. It took about an hour for their traffic to come back to normal.
According to Cloudflare CEO, Matthew Prince, this is their 3rd outage in the 4 years they have been in business.
These outages are always interesting because nobody ever really knows what happened. However, the way the
company handles themselves after the incident, says a lot about the company. We’ll see what happens here.
